About CompTIA
CompTIA stands for Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). This is a non-profit trade association that develops professional standards for the IT industry and offers a wide portfolio of vendor-neutral IT certifications. CompTIA is actively involved in development of IT courses, professional approaches, as well as professional standards for this dynamic and ever-changing industry.
With A+ being one of the most popular CompTIA credentials (in the fall of 2014 the company celebrated issuing the millionth certification of A+ which primarily targets IT help desk staff and tech beginners), the company also offers some of very advanced credentials, like Network+, Security+, Mobility+, Mobile App Security+, CASP (The CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner), and many other credentials. With most of CompTIA certification exams available in multiple languages, especially Arabic, these credentials are a great option for IT professionals whole first language isn’t English.
CompTIA strives to stay current on the emerging technology trends and industry processes, therefore, its recent certifications heavily focus on security, especially mobile app security. For example, Mobility+ certification was developed in close cooperation with MSPs (Managed Service Providers), whose employees will supposedly be its key target audience. Yet, adding Mobility+ certification to the portfolio may also be useful for in-house networking engineers and mobility professionals. It may be especially beneficial to those holding positions of mobility engineers, network administrators, mobility architects and security administrators.
Generally speaking, CompTIA provides highly respected certifications, especially popular in the United States, where holding them is required for IT and security staff of Department of Defense, as well as of some other government bodies.
